NewSong是当代福音音乐乐队，成立于1981年，有20个单曲No.1和8个圣鸽奖提名。他们创立了Winter Jam Tour Spectacular，美国最大的年度福音音乐盛会，始于1995年，而且现在仍由NewSong主办。Steven Curtis Chapman , Jeremy Camp , Newsboys , MercyMe , TobyMac 以及 Skillet都曾经参加过。
多年来，他们与人道主义组织世界宣明会一直都致力于被遗弃儿童和贫困儿童的生活问题，2006年，NewSong又参与了Holt International。
这张专辑是获得格莱美提名的NewSong的第16张录音室专辑，经过了28年合作，NewSong与员唱片公司解除合约，《Give Yourself Away》为首张在His Honor Music公司发行的专辑。
专辑中Carswell, Lee 和 Peacock都是主要的词曲作者，Matthew West 和 Sanctus Real's Matt Hammitt也有参与制作。专辑的首支单曲《That's What Mercy Is》就是由Carswell 和 West所创作。
在谈到他们乐队的长寿秘诀时，Carswell说：“I attribute that to God having His hand on us and helping us in spite of ourselves. We've tried to be faithful to our mission—to tell people about our relationship with Christ—since the beginning. Even though we love the music, the ministry part of what we do is the main thing”
